If you are vegan, you are in the right city. Vegan Restaurants in Vancouver BC are plentiful with new ones opening regularly. Plant-based food is creative, surprising and full of healthy benefits.
Let me say…”I am not vegan!” BUT when I hang with my two daughters, we eat incredible plant-based food and are always on the lookout for gluten-free options. My youngest daughter even creates vegan food for her blog, Greens, Eggs and Yams.
This vegan Vancouver list has been compiled over time. What you will find is an inspirational list of restaurants that combine local produce, ingenious combinations and beautiful spaces. Get ready for a taste of plant life at its best!

Vegan √ Gluten-free Options √
Did someone say donuts?!
Cartems just makes me smile.
You know that Canadians just love their donuts, right? Being gluten-free, I had not savoured a donut in years. And then I discovered Cartems. Tasting a chocolate gluten-free donut at Cartems is like a little piece of Canadian heaven.
It’s never a bad idea to stock up on vegan and gluten-free donuts for a ferry ride to the Sunshine Coast!
And if you happen to be on Granville Avenue, Meinhardt Fine Foods, which has several shops around Vancouver, carries a small selection of fresh donuts from Cartems. No excuse not to try one!

4. Earnest Ice Cream

So… I was too excited about my vegan ice cream in a 100% gluten-free waffle cone to remember to take a photo! The taste buds come in first at Earnest Ice Cream! But just to give you a heads up, I’m all over the Vegan Hazelnut Truffle and the Vegan Peanut Butter Chocolate Ripple. Any vegan in Vancouver will be in seventh heaven here.
Earnest Ice Cream is striving to be zero waste (you will see this a lot in Vancouver) and led the way in packaging returnable and reusable glass pint jars.

This vegetarian restaurant makes every item on their menu vegan and gluten-free.
The Korean Fried Cauliflower and Cashew Coconut Curry are top-notch!
If you’re in a hurry, the Juice Bar on Granville can whip you up a delectable salad and take one of their classic cookies with you. I never visit Vancouver without stopping by to get an Heirloom cookie.

8. Planetary Burger
Vegan √ Gluten-Free Options √
When it comes to vegan restaurants in Vancouver, Planetary Burger is a newbie. This new burger shop serves 100% plant-based burgers, scrumptious rosemary-parm fries and cashew and coconut-based shakes that are literally to die for. I can vouch for the strawberry and the chocolate ones! I ‘ve also devoured the mushroom burger and the classic cheese served on a bun with lettuce, tomato and special sauce. Gluten-free buns are available and also mini-sized burgers for kids.

10. TurF
Vegan √ Gluten-Free Options √
Of all the vegan restaurants in Vancouver, I have returned multiple times to TurF. TurF – is a glorious combination of a fitness studio, a shop and a restaurant. Stop by for a meal or drop in for a coffee and delectable treat. One of the reasons I love TurF is its wide selection of gluten-free treats. The cookies are to die for (hence no photograph!)
I’ve also started my day with their oatmeal bowl (so yummy) and brunched over the potato benny. Check out the “vegan menu with some protein and vegetarian exceptions” and see what flavours and creative combinations tickle your fancy.

11. Virtuous Pie
Vegan √ Gluten-Free Options √
Another one of the inviting and mouth-watering vegan restaurants in Vancouver is Virtuous Pie. Enticing nut-based cheeses such as cashew mozzarella and toppings like spicy buffalo cauliflower are created to delight the taste buds.
It’s a win with gluten-free crusts available for a few extra dollars.
Let alone a wonderful array of personal-sized 10-inch pizzas, don’t forget to save room for dessert. Their housemade gluten-free cones and plant-based ice cream are the perfect finish to lunch or dinner. I’m currently dreaming of the bourbon vanilla ice cream and possibly a second scoop of pumpkin pie and pecan… or possibly the gluten-free ice cream sandwich.
