your inner playfulness
and
take up your tiny, yet dynamic, space

only if
you can handle
the revolution in your heart
calling you to remain.
“Life isn’t about finding yourself.
Life is about creating yourself.”

Transportation:
Bus from Seville, Spain:
Bus companies Alsa and Eurolines both drive the 2 1/4 hour route to Faro, Portugal. (€21/ $29.20 Cdn)
Note: There is more than one bus station in Seville. The bus left from Pza de Armas station. The bus stops at the Portuguese border. Be sure to have your passport. They check passports on the bus and removed a man who only had an identification card.
Faro airport is where all the car rental places are located. There are none in Faro itself.
Train:
Faro to Lisbon: (€17/ $24 Cdn) one way to Lisbon Oriente station, first class
Accommodation:
O Castelo Guest House: A lovely guest house looking over the sea.
Pick a room with a terrace for outstanding views. Would happily return.
Restaurants:
There are lots of restaurants in Carvoeiro and also an Intermarché grocery store nearby to create your own picnics.
A Galeria: The prix fixe menu (€9.95/ $15 Cdn) included soup, fresh fish (sole, swordfish or sea bass), salad and dessert. It was a simple and fresh meal. The highlight of the dinner was chatting to Manuela, the owner. Who knew there was such a thing as vinho verde? She also offered a complimentary glass of port.
Atlantic View: And what a view there is! Francesca, the owner originally from Brazil, was so delightful and created a list of not to miss beaches in the area.
Vela: A bit more expensive. Lovely atmosphere with live piano music.
The Caves:
Right on the beach in Carvoeiro, you can choose a boating excursion. Two thumbs up for the 90 minute trip through the caves, including Benagil.
The boats are rolled to the waters edge on foam rollers and the return to shore is like an amusement park ride!
Exploring:
There is lots of walking and exploring to be done locally. There are boardwalks and hiking trails.
Carvoeiro is also a great location to explore the Algarve if you have a car. Day trips to towns such as Sagres and Lagos, to the West Coast Beaches and Monchique (where the “firewater” Medronho, a very strong liqueur made from the fruits of the arbutus trees is made) are very doable.
A Future Life:
Apparently, Carvoeiro is a cheap place to live according to this article! Might have to consider a move…
